Interview with Val at Spinning Spools in New Ulm, MN

It's time once again to learn a bit more about Val,
the owner of Spinning Spools in New Ulm, MN.
If you could be any superhero, who would it be and why?

Eleanor Burns!  She's my superhero of quilting.  I would have fun with my scrap fabrics and create fun projects.
If you could be a car, what would you choose to be?

I would be a van.  I'd have all but the driver and front passenger seats removed and fill myself up with cozy quilts.  Since I'd be full of quilts, my driver and passenger would surly be fun people.  We would go traveling all over the Southwest part of Minnesota to check out the great quilt shops!!

If you bumped your car into someone else's but nobody saw, what would you do?

If there was no damage, I'd drive away.  Hopefully she's a quilter and has a forgiving heart.  If I did damage to someone, I suppose I'd have to wait around for them to come back.

What one modern convenience would you choose to not live without?

My rotary cutter and acrylic templates.  I started quilting with a scissor and cardboard template 30 years ago--never again!!

Tell us one truth and one lie.
Can you guess which one is which????
Kitties are not the best sewing buddies.

I made this quilt in 2 hours one snowy day this past winter.
If you had a 25 hour day, while everyone else still only had 24, what would you do with the extra time?

I would fritter it away on nothing at all, like stand at my kitchen window with a cup of coffee (or glass of wine, depending on the time of the day that the extra hour occurs) and watch the birds and critters in the yard.

What do you think Victoria's secret is?

Victoria isn't really Victoria, it's Victor.
And that fancy, expensive underwear you just bought (You know , the pieces that fit in your thimble?) really won't make you look as good as the models in their ads.

What kind of vegetable do you hate?

It's all good!  I like it raw, especially fresh from the garden.
I do NOT like cooked spinach!  Too slimy!

If you were a police officer for one day, what would you do with the authority?

I would want to do my "duty" during the holidays and take a child to Target to shop with a cop.  It's all in wearing the uniform and making that community presence!

On this day...what do you currently have in your trunk?
A flannel quilt and a "go green" bag for my groceries.
(There might be a few stray pins and a spool of thread or two as well!)
